Job Description

AECOM Ottawa is hiring an on-call Senior Municipal Roadway Designer, Transportation.

This is a newly created role.

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to:

  • Prepare and oversee the development of detailed roadway, municipal infrastructure, and utility design drawings for transportation projects.
  • Coordinate design activities with engineers, designers, and technical staff across multiple disciplines.
  • Perform geometric roadway design and assist with the preparation of design reports, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Support the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design.
  • Conduct quality reviews of design drawings and ensure compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and client requirements.
  • Liaise with internal project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and technical staff.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination to support successful project delivery.

 

     

    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering plus 6 years of experience in transportation, roadway, municipal infrastructure, and utility design; OR Technical Diploma plus 8 years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD for transportation and municipal infrastructure projects.
    • Past experience working on City of Ottawa, MTO and other Ontario municipalities projects.
    • Strong knowledge of Ontario transportation and municipal design standards.
    • Experience delivering roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, and municipal servicing projects.
    • Familiarity with MTO, municipal, and regional design guidelines.
    • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
