We invite you to join the world of hospitality at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire as our new Host. The Host plays a key role in delivering exceptional first impressions by providing a warm welcome and seamless seating experience for all guests. This role is responsible for managing reservations, coordinating guest flow within the restaurant, and supporting the Food & Beverage team to ensure a smooth and memorable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Arrival & Experience
- Consistently provide professional, friendly, and engaging service to all guests.
- Greet guests upon arrival with a warm and personalized approach.
- Manage guest seating efficiently while maintaining a balanced flow of service.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide accurate wait time estimates when required.
- Handle guest inquiries and concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
Reservations & Seating Management
- Utilize and manage the OpenTable reservation system to coordinate bookings and walk-ins.
- Maintain an organized reservation book and seating plan throughout service.
- Communicate effectively with Servers and Culinary team regarding table status and guest flow.
- Monitor dining room activity to optimize seating efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Food & Beverage Knowledge & Support
- Maintain full knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and garnishes.
- Maintain awareness of beverage offerings, promotions, and daily features.
- Assist service team with expediting food and beverage items as needed.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, and restaurant areas.
- Complete opening, closing, and side duties in accordance with established standards.
- Follow all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Contribute to an organized, welcoming, and professional dining environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with team to support smooth daily operations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members during service.
- Foster a positive and professional team environment.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies related to food and beverage operations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and service standards.
What will you bring to this role?
- Valid Alberta ProServe certification required
- Previous hospitality or service experience is an asset
- Previous experience with reservation or point-of-sale (POS) systems is an asset
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Highly responsible, reliable, and professional
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequent movement between the entrance, dining room, and service areas
